Random things you should know…about Peaches:
- The “Peach State” is Georgia’s nickname.
- California is the largest producer of peaches in the USA. (according to Statista.com)
- Peach ‘fuzz’ is a natural defense mechanism against insects, diseases, etc.
- Nectarines are ‘fuzzless’ Peaches
- Peaches are generally classified as ‘clingstone’ or ‘freestone’. The pit (seed) of a ‘freestone’ peach will pull free from the flesh easily and cleanly. A ‘clingstone’ will…well, it will cling:)
- The Romans referred to peaches as ‘Persian Apples’.
- Are believed to have originated in China.
