Hey, something new to share with you this week. We have chicks that will soon be ready-to-lay hens. And we’re hoping to sell a few.
At the beginning of this year, our family bought a few hundred, day-old chicks from a local hatchery. We hope to add a few of these hens to our laying flock in the spring and sell a few. My theory is, that when spring rolls around, you visit your local Tractor Supply and see that they have chicks for sale. On a whim, you buy a few said chicks with the dream of having backyard hens that supply you with fresh eggs. Then you spend the next 20-plus weeks raising the cute little buggers. The end of the summer rolls around. If you’re lucky, you might have a few eggs before fall.
Well, we have done the hard work for you:) This April, we will have mature hens ready to be set free in your backyard. We have 4 varieties of laying hens that will provide you with an array of egg colors. From dark browns to light greens, pinks, and possibly even some blues. These ladies are on a non-GMO feed plus they have access to dry bales of Orchard grass.
If you are looking for ready-to-lay hens or have questions…I’d be glad to hear from you.
