It was Valentine’s Day 2011. Doorstep Dairy was in its infancy, making deliveries only 2 nights per week. With hopes of growing the business, we saw Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to get out and rub shoulders with the community. So, a few weeks before February 14th, we rolled out the ‘Share the Love’ event. Donate $100 to one of our charities and we would deliver flowers and chocolate and have it delivered along with a singing telegram. I twisted the arms of my identical twin cousins and convinced them to wear the white shirts, the bow ties, and cool milkman hats. And most importantly, to sing:) Amazingly enough, we had people schedule us.
Valentine’s Day morning we piled into the OG Milktruck and began making our rounds.
I think we had 9 people book us for Valentine’s Day. We visited social workers at the Reading Hospital, someone at the corporate office of UGI, a school nurse at Twin Valley School, a volunteer at the Morgantown Reuzit Shop, an accounting firm, and various people in their homes. It was a super fun day. It would have been fun to make this a yearly event…but it was not to be.
Can you imagine being greeted by this motley crew at your front door?
We sang to these two young ladies at the Reading Hospital.
So, what fun things have you done for Valentine’s Day?
